A collection of scattered tattoos, tribal in nature (Hellsguard ancestral artwork) on arms, shoulders, back, calves. Short and wide hands with thick fingers, heavily callused palms, too many scars to count.  JOBS.    WAR primarily. DRK, rarely. Is familiar (if not adept) with most other mundane melee weapons, as well as the bow. Zero interest in firearms. Loves punching. Can cast magicks with concerted effort. Cuts her time between a small treasure-hunting free company (the Drunk Dungeoneers), Clan Centurio, and the Bloodsands arena in Ul'dah.

Brusque and polite, Charging Thunder tends to comport herself seriously in professional situations.
In more casual settings, she relaxes a little and her loud, booming laughter can easily fill rooms, coupled with good-natured lowbrow humour and a casual machismo.
She can be fiercely protective.  INVENTORY.   A well-loved goatskin hip bag, sized to comfortably fit on the roegadyn woman's waist. It has many pockets and compartments, and is normally tightly zippered shut. There is a handmade tiny stuffed pig attached by a thin cord to one of the clasps. On an average day, she will carry:
- 3-4 hi-potions
- 2 smallish waterskins (lovingly referred to as juiceboxes) filled with cordial or ether, depending.
- 1 oversize waterskin. always filled with water.
- At least 3 day's worth of rations. Hardtack and some smoked meat, cheeses, dried fruits. Every day. Yes really.
- A pocket-sized Eorzean naturalist reference guide. It's clearly been rebound a few times, and is heavily worn. It's pages are filled with notes and additions in the margins.

lore.

  ORIGINS.   Born in a village somewhere deep in the northern, heavily forested and mountainous region of Abalathia's Spine, Charging Thunder descended from the mountain somewhere around age 15, bearing a warrior's soulstone and an axe almost too big to wield.  CUTTING TEETH.   Charging needed supplies. Repairs, replacement, not to mention food. She could hunt and trap well enough, but it was barely enough to scrape by. Though young and inexperienced, she managed to find work guarding caravans and escorting travelers, and soon enough found herself in the Eorzean city states.  BRANCHING OUT.   Ul'dah, the first city proper Charging Thunder had ever stepped in, was loud, frenetic, and overwhelming for the young adult roegadyn. The city completely steamrolled her, unprepared as she was, and her first day inside the gates she was deceived, drugged, robbed, and left for dead in a back alley. Charging had stumbled groggily into the first door she saw, and as luck would have it, it was the Quicksands. The kind-hearted proprietress saw to her recovery and bade she join the Adventurer's Guild.
Happy for an ally and a good cause to train for, Charging took to the work with gusto.Joining   THE IMMORTAL FLAMES  upon their reformation, rising to a position of sergeant, Charging was praised for her tactical mind, bravery, and prowess in battle. There were, however, several noted missions in which she was said to have 'lost control' and become violent to friend and foe alike. These incidents, though luckily enough nonfatal to anyone friendly, were still cause for several injuries; some of which were serious. If the situation that caused the creation of the grand companies was not so dire, Charging's 'episodes' would have resulted in a court martial at the very least.  THE BATTLE OF CARTENEAU   and the fifth umbral calamity was a dark, dark day for all, and it was no different for Charging Thunder. Though she emerged alive from the battle, something had happened. She could no longer remember many of the faces of her friends, allies, even lovers. She recalled the warm feeling of happiness as she gazed up at the stars, or their laughter as she had her first icecream and her first brainfreeze. She could remember where, when, how...just not who. Even if they had not died, it felt like they had been ripped from her.Charging fought on with the Flames, picking up what pieces of Eorzea they could, fighting for who they had lost. For those they could yet save. For her, it was a losing battle.The incidents of her losing control during skirmishes became more frequent and she seemed to be unable to control her temper in the barracks. It became clear both to herself and to her commanding officers that until something changed, she could no longer serve. Officially, she received an honourable discharge for her time served in battle with the Immortal Flames. Unofficially, she left the barracks in the night with her axes on her back and a small duffel of possessions. Her lack of control had destroyed all trust her friends and allies had in her. She was no longer welcome.  THE REST, AS THEY SAY, IS HISTORY...

  1.   <OF THE ENDLESS HUNT>   Works tirelessly with the grand companies and Clan Centurio to coordinate hunters and track down notorious marks throughout Etheirys. There are rumours she's worked with Clan Nutsy, as well. Wait, who's Clan Nutsy?

  2.   "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"   Though she did have a brief stint in the Ul'dah Bloodsands, she found the performance element of the thing frustrating, and retired. Her character was an unflattering/problematic 'savage' archetype, using the same name. The fact that she has zero acting talent did not help. Now it seems she trains new gladiators in fundamentals for a minor-league ludus in her spare time.

  3.   IMMORTAL FLAMES & THE MAELSTROM   Though more likely known for her work with the Maelstrom during the Ala Mhigo campaign, she worked far longer with the Immortal Flames earlier in her career. Those working with the Flames currently might see her name in old records from around the calamity. She was granted an honourable discharge some months after the Battle of Carteneau, but rejoined a few years later under the adventurer clause, which lets her act as a free agent. Yay.

  1.   AXE FOR HIRE   Charging Thunder has a long history of being a mercenary in Eorzea. Most of her work is through Clan Centurio or the Adventurer's Guild, but it's rumoured she also works as muscle for some Doman crime lord. She has a reputation for being professional, fair, and loyal, but also for going loud and making a statement.

  2.   DRUNK DUNGEONEERS (DD-RP)   She has an office within an Ul'dahn treasure-hunting free company. Their headquarters seems to be an eclectic and varied museum, and the lower floor a tavern. All legal and above-board. And available for hire...

  3.   A PUGILIST YEARNS   A lifelong student of the ancient art of hand to hand combat in all it's forms, Charging has been seeking a monk job stone for many years. In lieu of that, perhaps a knowledgeable teacher?

  4.   OH YIKES ACTUALLY   There are rumours, mostly circulating in the Maelstrom and other Grand Companies (to a lesser extent), that Charging Thunder committed war crimes against Imperials. It's no secret she is fiercely anti-Imperial, so maybe the rumours have credence. What she did, exactly, varies from source to source. Some say she collects severed Garlean...members. Some say it's teeth. Some say she cannibalized an imperial prisoner. Some say she merely fed him to the rest of the prisoners. Either way, fucked up if true.

Hey Charging Thunder seems like a character at the end of her development/story. Where does it go from here??   Yeah :) While I love narratives centering coming-of-age type development, I am finding I enjoy playing an older character. It's fun playing a mentor, especially if they don't actually make a good mentor.
Also, it might not seem like there's a lot of character development available to an older character, but I disagree. People don't stop changing as they get older! To believe otherwise is unfair to the olds, I think.
But, all that said, Charging was never a character intended to be long-lived. Sooner or later, she's going into the ground :)

  *Lorebending seems to be defined differently between RP groups,  so here I am defining it as something that is plausible or possible within the setting and context of the game’s story, but either builds off/uses existing lore as a jumping point, or uses the inconclusive nature of the setting to do something new entirely while still being plausible. I love that! Writing in fan-made fluff to fill the gaps in the story is one of my favourite parts about roleplay in MMOs and I delight in seeing what people come up with. (I have several headcanons/fanon glop I will definitely post here at some point. Eventually.)  **Mature themes need a bigger breakdown so here we go (WARNING! Ahead be common squicks and triggers. Use care!):   Drugs:  100% okay to RP with me. Heavier themes like addiction and overdose, needles etc, will not bother me. Alcohol:  100% okay to RP with me. Heavier themes won’t bother me. Sex:  0% okay to RP with me. I will often RP Charging checking a girl or seven out, but OOC I do not have any interest in making anything Happen. I am a 24/7 365 days a year Fade-To-Black RPer. No judgement! Heavier themes like rape, rape pregnancies, sexual assault/harrassment, are examples of plot types I have zero interest in. If you are reading this wondering whether our characters can fuck, I apologize but no.  Violence:  99% okay to RP with me. I am a desensitized horror movie freak. Do it up. The only scenarios that might threaten my enjoyment of the scene involve descriptive & lengthy violence towards animals or children, or descriptive domestic violence. These are not dealbreakers, just examples of scenes that make me 😟 Killing/Murder/Death:  100% okay to RP with me. Enrichment! Gore:  99.9% okay to RP with me. I don’t mind blood, bones, obviously broken bones, people trying to hold their insides in, and other similar scenarios. As soon as people start sexualizing the gore is when I tap out. (You really don't want to know. I promise.) Language:  I swear like several sailors OOC. Charging will drop a fuckshite arse bitch etc here and there. No slurs please. Racism:  Please ask first! Sometimes I’m just tired and don’t want to deal. If it’s roegadyn-based or hellsguard-based racism, that is.
